Tanya Smith focuses her practice on women’s and men’s reproductive health, including gynecology, andrology, fertility and pregnancy. Tanya is the only Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) in Eastern Canada. Fellows of the ABORM have demonstrated knowledge in bridging Eastern and Western medicine in the care of fertility clients.
Tanya graduated from the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Victoria BC in 2004 and is registered as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in BC. She is also a member of the Ontario Association of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and is looking forward to deepening her study of reproductive medicine with Randine Lewis, author of the Infertility Cure.
Tanya is a certified Birth Doula, and while not currently practicing, her experience of supporting women and couples at over 40 labor and deliveries gives her a special perspective in the care of pregnant and postpartum clients. It is one of her greatest joys to see a fertility client holding their new baby in their arms, having supported them through that journey!
She has lectured at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, at Ryerson University for the Midwifery Education Program and at the Breech Birth Conference in Ottawa. Her perspectives have also been featured on City TV’s Breakfast Television, in FLARE magazine, the Women’s Post and numerous local newsletters of valued colleagues.
In May 2011, Tanya hosted Dr. Paul Magarelli, a Reproductive Endocrinologist from Colorado who spoke about the significant improvements he has seen in his fertility practice from combining Acupuncture and IVF.
