Mary Wong

B.Sc., R.TCMP, R.Ac

Mary Wong, founder & CEO of ALIVE Holistic Health Clinic is a TCM practitioner. Mary has been in practice for over 22 years treating thousands of people, a vast majority of whom struggle with pain & gynecological disorders, fertility challenges, & pregnancy-related symptoms/issues. She always designs a plan for creative care that draws on a wealth of support from both Eastern & Western medical practice, treating every patient as a full person-not just a diagnosis.

Mary graduated from McMaster University with a biological science degree and then received her doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Victoria, BC in 1993. She is a member of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario, the Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, and Clinical Excellence in Fertility Practitioners with extensive training from Dr. Randine Lewis, author of The Infertility Cure.

She was appointed to a government-sponsored ‘Expert Panel’ for Infertility and Adoption. She co-wrote a report with the current Governor General of Canada, Honourable David Johnston, recommending policy changes including IVF funding for the province of Ontario.

Aik Kim Heng

Hon.B.Sc., R.TCMP (Prov.), R.Ac (Prov.)

Kim practices acupuncture and is expertly trained to improve fertility using Chinese herbal formulas; however, he also treats a wide range of ailments. He is a Member of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario. Kim holds an Honours Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto.

In 2002, he studied at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine for three years before he travelled to China to pursue further training. He completed a 5-year program in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and received his Bachelors of Medicine Degree from the prestigious Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Kim then had the honour of apprenticing with Dr. Fu Zhen Long, a well renowned TCM physician who specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology with over 50 years of experience.

His six year journey in China gives him a special perspective on TCM, and on a personal level, the importance of family. He now lives in Toronto close to his family, and when he is not in practice, he enjoys reading, hiking, and teaching his nephew Chinese.

He is open to discussing your health concerns and to inspire hope and healing.

David Liang

M.Sc., R.TCMP., R.Ac

David Liang graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in physiology. He then went on to study acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine and massage at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California. He earned his Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine in the year 2000. David has honed a practice that integrates several different modalities including the use of Restorative Yoga positions.

With this, he has found improved success in treating such conditions as women’s health concerns, fertility, chronic pain, and digestive issues while concurrently addressing posture imbalances.

David has continued to expand his breadth of acupuncture techniques and employs the particularly gentle Japanese-style.

David is a regular practitioner of meditation and was a teacher at Friends of the Heart meditation centre. He believes strongly in the positive effects of mindfulness on the body, emotions and in stress reduction. He is open to discussing specific techniques with those who are interested.

David is a member of the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada (CMAAC) and has been a guest speaker at Centennial College’s Massage Therapy Program. He has also appeared on Rogers Television speaking on the benefits of acupuncture.

Tanya Smith

Tanya graduated from the Canadian College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Victoria BC in 2004 and is registered a Acupuncturist & Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner with the CTCMPAO in Ontario. Constantly learning, Tanya is looking forward to deepening her study of reproductive medicine with Randine Lewis, author of the Infertility Cure.

Tanya is a certified Birth Doula, and while not currently practicing, her experience of supporting women and couples at over 40 labor and deliveries gives her a special perspective in the care of pregnant and postpartum clients. It is one of her greatest joys to see a fertility client holding their new baby in their arms, having supported them through that journey!

Tanya has lectured at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, at Ryerson University for the Midwifery Education Program and at the Breech Birth Conference in Ottawa. Her perspectives have also been featured on City TV’s Breakfast Television, FLARE magazine, the Women’s Post and numerous local newsletters of valued colleagues.

In May 2011, Tanya hosted Dr. Paul Magarelli, a Reproductive Endocrinologist from Colorado who spoke about the significant improvements he has seen in his fertility practice from combining Acupuncture and IVF.
